Introduction:
Rugamox is a brand Amoxicillin of a broad spectrum semi-synthetic penicillin with proven bacterial activity and safety. Rugamox has similar spectrum to Ampicillin but more readily absorbed concomitant of Rugamox with Beta-lactamase in hibitors its activity.
Absorption and Excretion:
Rugamox is stable in gastric secretion and its absorption is more complete than that of Ampicillin. Absorption of Rugamox is not influenced by the presence of food. Its excretion can be delayed by prebened.
Indications:
Respiratory tract infections, genitourinary tract infections, skin soft tissue infections, gastrointestinal infections, dental abscess, septicaemia and bacteriuria in pregnancy.
Dosage of the Suspension:
Oral standard dose: 250mg and hourly; doubled in severe infections. Children 20-40mg/kg daily in divided doses every 8 hours.
Preparation of the Suspension:
To make 60ml/100ml of the suspension add 40ml/75ml of boiled and cooled water, invert and shake the bottle until all the powder is dispersed. Alternatively gradually add boiled water to half of the bottle. Shake well slowly add more water up to make on the label. SHAKE WELL BEFORE TAKING EACH DOSE.
